PURPOSE
The purpose of this policy is to ensure Happy Hearts Nursery has sufficient health care providers present on the premises at all times to attend to children in need.
DEFINITIONS
Doctor – a member of the medical profession; one who is trained and licensed to heal the sick or injured
Nurse - Nurses provide and monitor patient care, educate patients and family members about health conditions, provide medications and treatments, give emotional support and advice to patients and their family members, and more. They also work with healthy people by providing preventative health care and wellness information.
POLICY STATEMENT
Happy Hearts Nursery has contracts with clinics to provide HAAD Licensed Doctors and Nurses
Doctor:
- Happy Hearts Nursery has an annual contract with Family Friend Home Health Care. This contract allows their qualified female doctor to visit Happy Hearts Nursery on a monthly basis.
- The Doctor is responsible for doing a check-up of all the children at the nursery and provide medical reports of the same.
- Should any concern be raised with any child’s parents, the doctor has to first notify the management before setting up a direct meeting with them.
- The doctor is obliged to ensure the child is meeting the basic physical and mental health goals.
- The doctor is entitled to keep all information confidential and not disclose it to any other staff or parent.
Nurse:
- Happy Hearts Nursery has an annual contract with Khyber Polyclinic. This contract allows a HAAD qualified nurse to be present on the nursery premises on a daily basis.
- The nurse is responsible for providing first aid in case of any emergency occurring to any child on the nursery premises.
- The nurse is responsible for administering medicine to children provided there is a valid doctor’s prescription and medication consent form provided by the parent.
- The nurse is responsible for maintaining all the medicines in the nursery in a separate fridge, and ensuring all expired medicines are thrown out.
- The nurse is responsible for checking the height and weight of all the children at the nursery.
- The nurse is responsible for maintaining all the medical records of the children and ensuring they have received all the needed vaccination at the right time.
- The nurse is responsible for providing complete isolation and taking care of a sick child under his/her parent arrives.
- The nurse is responsible for ensuring all children maintain the basic standards of hygiene i.e. nails are cut, hairs are of a suitable length, clothes are clean etc.
- The nurse is responsible for ensuring all children are bringing healthy food at the nursery.
- The nurse is responsible for taking rounds of the nursery to ensure the premises are secured and not prone to any illness, injuries or accidents.
