PURPOSE
The purpose of this policy is to ensure children at Happy Hearts Nursery are getting exposure to community related engagement programs.
DEFINITIONS
Community - A group of people living in the same place or having a particular characteristic in common.
Engagement - an arrangement to do something or go somewhere at a fixed time.
Relationship - the way in which two or more people or groups regard and behave towards each other.
POLICY STATEMENT
Relationships between the school and wider community strengthen the ability of schools and families to support student learning, wellbeing and development outcomes.
At Happy Hearts we engage our children in various activities community. We value and respect the important and responsible role the community plays in the social growth and development of kids.
AIM
- To ensure students have the opportunity to develop an understanding of the importance of community engagement and to understand their roles within it.
- Introducing words/greetings in the native language is a way to introduce them to different cultures.
- Encourage cross-racial/ethnic/religious/ability friendships.
- Expose your children to foods, clothing and tradition from different cultures
- To understand and respect similarities and differences, to help them realize they wonderfully unique person among many other wonderfully unique people on this earth.
- Inculcate values of sharing caring.
- Develop sense of love and affection for their teachers, family and peers.
- To provide students and staff with opportunities to participate in various community-based activities.
- Awareness of safety rules at the nursery, home, on the bus, road and stranger danger.
- Develop sense of responsibility towards the environment.

- Opportunities for parent and community involvement are encouraged and activities are planned and developed to maximize parental involvement and interaction of the children with the larger community.
- Muslim children are not obliged to attend or prepare for non-Islamic ceremonies.
